Futon bunk beds are easier to assemble with a partner and a partner is needed for the placement of the top bunk. Mounting furniture requires time and patience and should not start if you are in a hurry. It will help you arrange all the parts along with reading the instructions and study any illustrations before proceeding. Also, remember to mount the bunk bed in the room where it will be located, since it can not pass through the door once mounted.
Create space for the work area by moving the furniture in the room out of your way. Unpack the bunk boxes and take the outer packaging to keep your work area free of clutter or lay flat boxes and work directly with them to protect your floor.
Find the instructions inserted for the reference and the hardware that will be used. They can be found in a clear plastic bag attached to a railing of the bunk bed. Separate the pieces of hardware into small containers or bowls so that they are easy to find when you need them. Some people find bags with airtight style are very useful when organizing small pieces. Carefully read the instructions and note what different parts are used and when to use them. If possible, line the pieces to the end so that you do not have to go look at each step.
