If your countertops are making your kitchen look dated or if you like the granite look without the expense, you can paint your counters with a paint faux granite countertops finish. You can paint almost any surface to look like granite, including plastic laminate and solid surfaces. It cannot be applied to surfaces that will be submerged in water, such as sinks, bathtubs or showers.
Painting is an economical alternative to replacing your countertops and is easy to do. Wash countertops with warm soapy water. Rub dirt and dirt with a scouring pad. Rinse with clean water to remove all debris. Allow counters to dry completely before painting. Patch all notches and deep scratches on your counters with wood filler. Apply the load with a spatula and let it dry for two or three hours. Pull up in a quick movement so that the paint does not smear.
